ok, i'd say go read the book rather then watch this movie! unfortunately, the movie is not even satisfying as a fairy tale set in an enticing, unattainable world as compared to the book.starting is pretty slow though zhang ziyi, gong li and michelle yeoh were all really convincing actresses. couldn't help but feel it would have been more appriopriate if they had cast a japanese as one of the female leads. should be more enticing for guys to catch the show too yeah. and zhang ziyi looked so dame young in the movie!
fact: the word "geisha" does not mean "prostitute," as a lot of us ignorantly assume. it actually means "artisan" or "artist"
